I’m hoping someone here can help me with an issue I’ve been having while trying to run my GC-MS setup without the TriPlus RSH autosampler.

Our autosampler is designed for liquid injections, but I want to try headspace injections manually with the GC 1310. However, it seems that the TriPlus RSH is acting as the master, and I can’t get the sequence to start as I intended.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Setting the GC 1310 as the start instrument and removing the TriPlus RSH autosampler from the sequence in the Run Sequence Window. The sequence queues but doesn’t start.
Changing the handshake setting for the GC 1310 in the configuration from "Inhibit Ready: High" to "None."
Switching the TriPlus RSH from the main instrument to "Virtual" in the instrument configuration.
Unfortunately, none of these steps allowed me to manually start a GC injection and have it trigger the TSQ 8000 Evo mass spectrometer. Additionally, after making these changes, the TSQ 8000 Evo connection seems to have broken. It now identifies itself as "TSQ Series, 8000" instead of "TSQ 8000 Evo."

Should I try removing the TSQ 8000 Evo from the instrument configuration and re-adding it to fix the connection issue? Also, is it possible to configure the system so that a manual GC 1310 injection can trigger the TSQ 8000 Evo to run, assuming the connection issue is resolved?

Are you running Xcalibur or Chromeleon? When properly setup as a manual injection, you should have to manually start the GC on it's front panel upon making the actual injection. The start signal for the MS comes from the GC. Upon the GC "starting," the start signal is sent to the MS from the GC and the MS should start acquiring data after any applicable solvent delay.

I also should have mentioned that, upon initiating a run as a manual injection, the GC has to equilibrate and achieve a "ready" status prior to being able to manually "start" the run on the GC front panel (post manual injection, of course).
