I'm tasked with running 25E. I'm told this lab used to do this test years ago. I've been given custody of a Perkin Elmer Clarus 590 and a TurboMatrix 40, which - I am told - was used to do this analysis in the past.

The first thing I saw in the method was "Balanced Pressure Headspace Sampler. Perkin-Elmer HS–6, HS–100, or equivalent, equipped with a glass bead column instead of a chromatographic column."

Is this glass bead column part of the headspace sampler, or something that is supposed to go in the GC?

The HS transfer line goes into the GC's injection port, which has a capillary column running to the FID. Does that sound like the setup used for 25E? I understand why there's an FID, but not what the GC is for. Is this even a GC method?
