Specifying lab-made NaCl as eluent?

Hi all,

The meat of this is that I am trying to use lab-made NaCl as eluent, and not use an ECG cartridge for the method I am using, on a Dionex ICS-2100.

We switched from an eluent generator cartridge, and followed instructions to bypass the ECG, CR-TC, and CT degasser found on the Thermo website. The problem is, we don't know where to change the method/setting so that we can specify that we aren't using an ECG. The software is assuming that we're using the ECG when we want to use our own eluent.

I don't know if this needs to be changed in our specific method, on the instrument as a whole, or both. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don’t see any information for this in any of the online manuals or guides, or even in forums (unless I’m missing something).

Thanks!

It is necessary to remove the EGC from the instrument configuration in Chromeleon Instrument Configuration Manager.

Another option without changing the configuration is just to set the eluent concentration to zero in the EGC window of Chromeleon. Chromeleon will think that you are pumping pure water while you are actually pumping your eluent (of course bypassing the EGC).
