PE HS with Agilent GC

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Dear all,

we are trying to pair a PerkinElmer Turbomatrix40 Headspace Sampler with a 8860 Agilent GC.

We came so far as we can start a sample on the Headspace (starting the HS method, waiting for "GC not ready") and after that starting the sequence in the GC program.
But now the HS sampler runs through und injects all samples, that are due.
The GC just stops after the first and says waiting for injection (which is done by the HS!).

Can anybody relate and help us with our problem?

If you need further information please comment.

Thx
Bill
I don't have an answer but if you don't mind sharing: what is your cable setup like?

I was looking into purchasing a similar setup (though it was HS40 and a 6890 or 7890 - I can't remember) and the vendor said a custom start cable from the HS to the GC was necessary.
We got a catalog from agilent with the right cable, so if you are interested you can ask for that i guess.

Our problem is, we had a solution in 2022 - didn't need it since then and now we are lost and don't want to book a service just for that...

Maybe anybody has an idea how to solve our problem
Is it a serial cable? Have you tried cleaning the leads and testing it with a multimeter?

Can you provide more details about how the HS and GC and PC are interfaced? Does the PC software have an error log you can share?

If your HS processes samples at regular intervals, can your software operate using a timed sequence mode? So it starts collecting data every N minutes without an external signal to start? I think Openlab CDS has that ability.
