Hey folks. What setup are you using for storing propane/butane CRMs for GC?
Freezer?
Vial types?
Only fresh from ampules?

What is CRM?

Certified reference materials, i.e. standards I don’t believe the way we are storing them is appropriate, so looking for other people’s options if they are happy with their setup

We analyse propane/butane in methane and nitrogen balance gas samples, so all of our gas phase CRMs are stored in cylinders at around 1500 psi. Normal cylinder storage procedures applies. We usually take a subsample into a gas bag and spike it into water samples if we're doing water analysis.

The key question here is.... what is your base material? For example, if cannabis, this is basically almost a lost cause. If this is for a gas phase analysis, then high pressure cylinders can be appropriate, if this is a liquid hydrocarbon, then cannisters or pistons, .... I hope you see my point.
