7673A liquid injector not recognized by chemstation

I recently purchased a 18594b controller and a 7673A liquid autosampler to replace our original units that recently died (I have the original HPIB card). All lights are green but chemstation is now saying the 7673A (18593A) is not installed. We are running chemstation 3.1 (I believe) on windows 3.0. The HPIB address is 16=0 8=1 4=0 2=0 1=0. I have tried to change the configuration from manual to auto inject but it is not allowing me to do this. Is there anyone who might know how to solve this problem?

Thank you

Are the DIP switches on the back of the 18594b set to the same HPIB address as the unit that you replaced?

You may need to change it from manual to auto inject by editing the method and saving the method. I would try that.

It sounds like your unit has the autosampler address code set at 8, ehich is the typical value (the 5890 GC itslef is typically 15).

Maybe your old autosampler was taken off the configuration when it "died", or your address code on the software doesn't match the address code of the DIP switch.

Close all Chemstations, then open up HPCHEM\Configuration editor, see if the 7673 is "installed", and if its address code is 8 to match your autosampler. If the 7673 isn't there, you must add it, and with the code to match your autosampler (8).

If the 7673 is there, and the codes don't match up, you must change either the code in the software or the code with the DIP switches.

If it does list 7673 and the codes do match, then turn off computer, turn off control box, and turn off GC so all are off at the same time, then turn all on and try Chemstation.
