Hello we have an hp/agilent GC 5890 with FID we want to make simulate distillation. What should I use for it?

Thank you

To perform simulated distillation (SimDist) using your HP/Agilent GC 5890 with a Flame Ionization Detector (FID), you’ll need the right setup, including specific hardware, columns, and software that support this analytical method. Simulated distillation is commonly used in the petroleum industry to simulate the distillation of hydrocarbons by separating them based on their boiling points. Emoji Kitchen

Here is an example of SimDIS system on HP-5890 https://www.unichrom.com/simdis/simdise.shtml

Packed inlet or CoC, 10-15m simDis column, FID

Choose a liquid sample that you want to analyze. Ensure it's suitable for GC analysis.

Analisis,

MoGas or Diesel or crude? Columns change and hardware should change accordingly. Split possible for Mogas, COC recommended for DSL and crude, columns will change accordingly. How do you intend to process the chromatogram that you will obtain since I think that is certainly the most challenging part.

Best regards,
