Removing detector from 6890N

I have a 6890N paired with a GC/MS. Years ago it was used with an FID and that was still installed on it. I fooled around with it a little recently and actually got it to light and give me a signal, but I don't really need it.
When the GC boots up now, I get a message about B det failing chk sum. So I thought I could just disconnect the detector. I disconnected the ribbon cables for the gasses manifold, the ribbon for the electrometer, the ignition cable and the detector heater/sensor cable. Now on startup I get B det type mismatch and B det electrometer faults.
If I try to start Chemstation, it says that the GC failed to initialize.
How do I tell this thing "the FID is gone, don't worry about it?"
