Use my Chromeleon 6.7 to control my HP 5890 with dual FID???

Can I control and acquire date with my chromeleon software that I have with my IC-HPLC-UV DX 500 dionex system?

Would it be for free??

Would I need an external A/D box? How could I do the connections. The PC that Chromeleon runs on does not have an ISA slot to insert the HP card.

Any ideas on how to do this for cheap or free?

I would really use some bench space and get rid of the old pc with the chemstation.

Hi,
You can control 5890 with an ordinary Chromeleon license. If you have a surplus Chromeleon licens, then it is "free", or if you switch between two instruments. I don't know about collcting data from two FIDs, since I dont have any GC with two FIDs.

With a GPIB (HPIB) you can have total control of 5890 without an extra AD box. A NI USB-GPIB adapter can be used for about 1000 $, expensive but at least cheper than an AD box and you will have the full FID range etc. (Use NI driver version 2.5 or later!).

Many instruments using GPIB are now decommisioned and replaced by networked instruments, so maybe it is possible to buy a used USB-GPIB?

We don't have any 5890 left, but as far as I remember there is no Ethernet port on 5890, otherwise you can use Ethernet instead of a GPIB. All our 6890 and 6850 are now set up using network communications.

Hope it helps
