Hello!

Our compressed air tank has run out but there is still 40 psi of residual pressure in the regulator. I don't think it's safe to try and change the regulator with 40 psi in it. Our only outlet is going straight to the 6850 GC. Is there a way to use the GC6850 software to purge the residual pressure, making it safe to change the regulator?

Thanks!

You may simply loosen a nut connecting the air tubing to the GC or the regulator , until the pressure is released.

Are you talking about removing the regulator from the cylinder with 40psi on the high side?

We normally change cylinders when the pressure drops below 500psi, and we just close the valve and remove the regulator. There is a quick hiss as the pressure is released but it does no damage to the regulator and is safe for the operator. We even do this with Hydrogen cylinders with no problems, just be sure the cylinder valve is closed first.
