Hi guys ,

Actually , i have one compound ( pesticide ) , this is degraded in water to many compounds .The question is how can i know which of these degraded compounds is more dangerous or cause cancer than other .Because i have tried to take individual compound and search but all said ( carcigonic ) without telling me the rate of toxicity .Is there is any web that tells the degree of toxcity of certain pesticide .

I really a ppreaciate any help .

You could start with the LD50 value - the acute lethal dose that kills 50 percent of a test population.

Another resource: MSDS's of the individual chemicals. In some cases, you may be looking at degredation products that are not listed as pesticides, but are toxic. If these chemicals are sold, the MSDS has to give available information - like LD50. If you look at the web sites for the various vendors you use for purchasing laboratory chemicals, standards and reference compunds, they will have MSDSs posted.

And, toxicology information may not be available for some compunds.

The one-stop-shop for this information if it is available is the RTECS database, but you will need to subscribe in order to use it. (Cost is CAD$300 for a single user)
