Happy New Year!
Has anyone tried to run a 7890A split/splitless injector in splitless mode with a non-Agilent sampler and/or software?
We have a 7890A with a split/splitless injector, CTC CombiPal sampler, and Empower 2 DAS. We have a USP compendial method that specifies to run a splitless injector. We've run into the problem that the Agilent 7890A requires the "Prep Run" button be pressed to prepare for a splitless run. According to the Agilent documentation the "Prep Run" for automatic runs is generated by the Agilent sampler. Manually hitting the button breaks the communication link between the GC and Empower.
Anyone else experience this or know of a work around?
Thanks for the help,

For all of our CTC autosamplers on 7890s I have set the auto prep run to "on" in the control panel. This is under Config>Instrument>AutoPrepRun.

Our instruments are not controlled by Empower, however.

Thank you for the help. I've tried the Auto-Prep setting, but for some reason it switches off when Empower starts remote control.

Empower switiching off the Auto-prep is a known issue (Defect 4438). This was suppose to be fixed with Empower Agilent instrument control software v 1.2.2. We are running 1.2.0.7. We'll find out when we get the free upgraded control software.
Thanks
