This is on a 6890 that used to have 3 detectors (FID, PID? ELCD?) and got converted to MS 15 years ago. Some pieces of the old setup were removed, but some were left as they were. Under "Inlets," Chemstation lists it as "OI4560."

And indeed, we had a 4560 purge & trap up until a few years ago... but the transfer line went to the back inlet and had nothing to do with this thing.

As there is no carrier gas tubings, it looks like just heated port (non-HP/Agilent).

There probably was connected the Headspace or Thermodesorver sampler which provide carrier gas flow/pressure control by itself.

It looks like it could be the top of a PTV inlet, with the finned septum nut to aid in rapid cooling between injections.

It looks to me like it is an XSD although it's installation in the injection port position is a bit odd. Installation location could be a function of having three detectors and needing a place to install it..... I am saying that mostly based on the finned top that you would see on an XSD. See Xylem (formerly OI) for a reasonable picture and explanation. Used for halogenated HC's although I believe not capable of doing fluorinated compounds. Originally developed by Coulson if I am not mistaken.
