Empower processing incredibly slow

Running Empower 3.6.1 from an Enterprise environment. Variance in processing time directly on a LAC/e, client or the server is small and are all too long. The problem is also present when trying to manually integrate a peak in the review window. It can take up to 16 seconds to integrate 1 peak.
No error messages are shown and no system changes were made in the last few weeks. Processing samplesets used to be much faster. A set with 10 injections used to take 1 minute, now it's easily 5 minutes.
This time varies per project
Where could cause this slowness in processing?

Are you using WiFi? If so, see about plugging into your LAN instead.
Have you had any new antimalware installed recently? If so, make sure the Empower and subfolders are all excluded from scans.
Do you have lots of processes running in the background? Close un-needed ones.
Has it been a while since you rebooted the PCs you're using as clients? If so, reboot them and retry (make sure no data is being collected if you're processing on a LACE before you reboot it).
Have you restarted your server lately? If not, it may be due.
Are your client PCs choking on Windows updates? If so, stop the installer service to get through processing.

Another thing to consider is the message centre running away in the background. Some User Types show all messages from each tab such as Instrument, Acquisition, Error etc for all users that are logged into Empower at that time, which can obviously add a lot of background data to your current activity. Consider logging in as a User Type which doesn't update the message center and that could speed up day to day use. Or if you cant do that, at least try and purge the content from the message center to remove some background data.

There are also other logs that can get "clogged" - if the issue persists, call Waters, they can help (assuming you have access to an admin account or know someone who does).

How many Gb the memory? Use at least 16 Gb!
Check PC-s setup acc. to the Empower manual (power saving, services, DCOM setup .Net Framework, LAN setup, switch off IPv6 etc).
Switch off all services that not needed for Empower.
There are many parameters in Windows that affected the PC performance.
