Phenol Issue

Hi all,
I'm running a method to analyse, currently, just phenol, by derivatising it with BSTFA, somewhere that is causing contamination.
I have tried everything I can think of to reduce it during preparation so I believe it is coming from somewhere within the instrument. The peak is for phenol bonded with the derivatising agent BSTFA with a 151 ion.
I've tried changing the washes, the ion used and a different source of BSTFA and none of them have helped.
Any suggestions as to where on the instrument it might be getting held up and then coming off from would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ed.

What solvent are you using with the BSTFA? Any TCMS in the BSTFA?

What instrument are you using, and under what conditions?

Not sure why derivatising is necessary for Phenol on a mass spec. It should give good chromatographic performance on non-polar columns like a DB-5.
