Does the acidic environment (TFA) release the heme group in hemoglobin using reverse phase HPLC. Can anyone reference a typical method using RP-LC for intact hemoglobin?

Yes, the acidic conditions do cause the release of the heme ring. This leaves you with the individual globin polypeptide units. Those are typically separated using a C-4 column.
