I am searching for an answer to the column sequence for a GPC instrument. I have a PL aquagel-OH 30 8mm column and a PL aquagel-OH 20 5mm column that will be placed in sequence. Which should go first and why?

The general rule is to put the packing with the largest pore size first. It may not be that terribly relevant for your analysis, but the idea is to dilute the larger MW as soon as possible, since the larger MW has the highest contribution to the sample viscosity.
