Hi
Its depending on the purpose:
Which scale mg or grams?
Are the samples changing often or ist it always the same sample?
Is the purifcation in regulated enviroment?
A system I really like is the Varian SD-1 Pump combined with the Fluidics module ( fractionisation)
best regards

I add to Chris:
Do you want to purify a product for example to get a standard,
or do you want to isolate the impurities in a product.
In my lab, we have a Waters System with Mass Lynx

Take a look at the ÄKTA avant. Loads of valuable features and good robustness.

The ÄKTAs are no HPLCs, if I remember right, their maximum working pressure is 100bars, so you cant use all columns with it.

Hi Chris,
Well, you don’t remember right – obviously.
The spec. says 20 Mpa ~ 2900 psi ~ ca. 207 bar.
For prep chromatography, that’s more than enough.

my purpose it bioactivity guided fracitonation and purification. we use 96 well plate method for screening and purify active peaks later. samples are different all the time..but quantity wise is from microgram level to about 200-300mg level..not more than that. I will have to use from semi-prep to prep but not too big ..biggest one will be i guess 30mmx250m with 5 micron particle size..pressure upto 8000 psi or less should be fine for this purpose..we do have one waters prep with masslynx software and are happy with its performance but we wanted to buy another one ..so were searching if there is better option available.cause waters is expensive.need SQ mass detector with it...
