We use column chromatography method for fractination of saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons of petroleum samples. Firstly We prepare the column with activated silicagel-alumina. Sample moves down on to alumina, elute with solvent. etc...After seperation, we collect saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons seperately and do GC-MS analysis..But it takes too long time.
We need an alternative method. Is there any effective HPLC for this purpose?
