Empower 2: toolkit or oracle access?

Hi,

We are planning to make our own LIMS, but I was wondering whether it is possible to access the oracle database for Empower 2 through ODBC or the toolkit.
Or is anyone aware about how to access the different properties of a project (like injections, results) through sqlplus?

Best regards

Ace

I don't know whether this is true or not, but how to shutdown and restart the db else than with sqlplus?

Hi Ace,
The embedded license does not allow you to access the database via SQL. It is also not recommended to by pass all the compliance ready software and try to make head and tail of the database structure. It is also not strictly possible to do it via the database due to encription and the separation of the raw data files.

But you can access all the objects you require via toolkit. To program with the toolkit you will need a toolkit developer license, or you could ask the assistance of a third party that will help you to a greater or lesser extent with it (I could recommend us, who probably have the widest knowledge of Empower/ Empower2 and are probably the best in the business, but that would be blatant plugging... ).

To restart the database without directly using sql, you can use the enterprise management console or scripts provided by Waters...

If you have any questions about getting started or what could be possible please feel free to contact me directly.

Cheers,
Ben
