Help on HP 3365 Series II ChemStation?

Hi,

I don't know if there's anyone out there still using this old version of ChemStation. I'm looking for a copy. I'm trying to hook up our 5890 with a computer I found. The computer is old too, a 486 with 8 MB RAM, only floppy drive, no CD drive, and the hard drive has only 30 MB free space left after the installation of Win31. Luckily that I found the HP 3365 Series II ChemStation installation disks, but unfortunately, the first disk is not readable.

Of course Agilent is no longer support this version. I'm wondering if any body has a copy or any one knows where I can buy one? Many thanks.

OK, I was able to find HP3365 on an old CD, version 3.34, and there are two "discs" in that directory. I can try to make ZIP file from those and E-mail, or you can leave your E-mail address and I'll E-mail you so you can supply your address, if you're in U.S, in case I need to mail a CD or floppies.

With Win 3.x, you can also use A.03 which is better (A.04 theoretically would work with 3.x, but will overload a 486 computer). I'm assuming you have the 82335 HP-IB board for the computer, HPIB cables, etc.

Hi CPG,

Thanks a lot for your offer. Gmail probably won't allow a zip file as attachment. If you are sending as .zip, could you please rename it to other extension name?

We do have the GPIB board for GC and GPIB cable to connect GC and PC. Now that you mentioned GPIB card, I re-visited the ChemStation compatibility chart and just realized that I got the wrong one. I bought a 82341 card from ebay. :(

We actually have a ChemStation A.06 on a CD. I guess I should upgrade the hard drive to a bigger one to load windows 95 or 2000, and try to install a CD drive on the computer.

But still if you don't mind sending me the 3365 software, please do so. I really would like to try it out before I either get a 82335 card or get the computer upgraded.

Again, thank you very much!

Here’s the situation:
1. You have an 82341 HPIB/GPIB board, that’s a good thing.
2. You have A.06 ChemStation on CD, that’s a good thing.
3. You have a 486 computer; that’s bad.

Get a used Pentium 1 or Pentium 2 computer, either Windows 95, Windows NT4.0, or Windows 2000, and use that, you won’t regret it. I’m E-mailing to you an Agilent compatibility chart; it states that A.06 on Windows 2000 isn’t supported, but we have several GCs and HPLCs using just that set up. 82341 HPIB/GPIB isn’t compatible with 3365 or A.03.

I’m not so great on computers, though, I’d need to play with ZIP to figure out how to send all those directories as a single file.
