Hi all,
Who run Polaris Q, an ion trap GCMS of Thermo Finnigan? I have a problem with the filament. It's life time is verry short (just about 3 months). When i use another GCMS system from Agilent and Shimadzu, I have not to change the filament for years.
How can I do to increase the life time of the filament?

off hand are the simple things. Run the dectector only when the peaks eluding are the ones you want, elsewise turn it off. Also keep the height of the peaks lower (on my instruments say 5E6 for the TIC). and never ever overload the MSD, that for sure is a quick death.

Good luck
