Acetone Blank in Method Development

I am building a method to detect Maleic Anhydride and using Acetone as my solvent. With this, I’m getting two peaks at roughly 202C (BP of maleic), and one of these peaks is present in our Acetone blanks.

Would we expect to see a phenol presence in Acetone solvent? I notice p-cresol and m-cresol are similar BPs as Maleic.

Possibly I should use a different solvent for this project?

I've never tested for maleic anhydride with GC, only with LC-MS (after derivatising with veratryl amine). What kind of conditions and setup are you using?
