Grad School question!

My professor gave a take home test. He allows us to talk to people about the test because he feels it helps with the learning process. If anyone could help me and tell me where I am going wrong I would really appreciate it.

Here is the question.

One column has a 1.2g of adsorbent with surface area 300m2/g/ Benzene shows a retention factor of 1 at 25C, the energy of amylbenzene with the surface is estimated to be 2x stronger than that for benzene. Estimate the retention factor for amylbenzene at the same chromatographic conditions.

I have tried everything. I have tried to relate the retention factor to the Gibbs free energy knowing that k'is approximately equal to exp (DeltaG/RT). Since k' for benzene is 1 In1 = 0. I also know that there is a relationship between In k and number of carbons. Where In k increases as number of carbons increase.

Any insight as to where I am going wrong would really help me out. Thanks so much!

Forget the carbon number stuff, the column is the same for both compounds. Concentrate on the free energy and retention factor.
