Why don't you simply phone your local Agilent representative ?

We just bought 2 8890GC-5977b
We got a pretty good discount as we buy a lot of instruments from Agilent, are buying 2 GC/MS at the same time, and traded in a system.
the GC was $40k (FID, FPD, CFT splitter system with aux EPC)
The MSD was $70k (insert source self-cleaning etc)

If you look at used instruments especially for the 7890/5977 combination you can probably save a little more on that system.

So far I am preferring the 7890 over the 8890, I just don't like the touch screen and a few other things the 8890 tend to do.
