I've recently run into an issue with a CP-8410 autoinjector connected to a Bruker-436 GC. The unit was moved between labs and sat on a bench for about a year prior to now.

The autoinjector calibrates vial position 1 (sample vial) without issue as well as runs following manual injection. However when using the autoinjector on a sequence or as a single injection it will start and then stop as soon as the optical sensor crosses the post on the wash vial tray. It returns the error "423 - Sample vial sensor bad". When the error is cleared it will then proceed to move to the wash position, clean the syringe, and return home.

Does anyone know if this is a software gremlin, or does the sensor require replacement? The sensor face is clean and free of dust, as is the interior of the tower.

Found a solution and adding it here in case someone comes across this same problem in the future.

Ordered a new optical sensor and replaced it and then tried different logic options to see which would work.

The logic switch on the sensor needs to be in "D" position. Put the old sensor back on and cycled the switch between D and L, and then back to D, which restored function to the autosampler.
