Hello all! I am new to gas chromatography and I recently purchased this HP 5890 ii. I would be grateful if somebody could help me out. Since this GC was obviously used, they had some weird arrangements with the plumbing that I could use some help figuring out since it is quite strange. I have attached images that I made that have some pictures and a few questions since it's easier than trying to fit it all in here. Overall I just want to know what the plumbing arrangement was for and how I can get the GC operational. Thanks!

This was a GC modified for very specific assays. However the 5890 was an excellent GC. I recommend hiring a 3rd-party service company to remove and simplify this GC for routine use.

Alright I managed to figure it all out using a balloon and a candle to see how gas flowed through everything.

Plumbing 2 picture 2 is just a blocked off connector. You are probably right abut the split injector addition.

You need to pull out all that additional plumbing and restore the original plumbing. The give-away that it is pooly constructed is the Telfon tape on the Swagelok fittings.
