setting the GC system

Hello,
I'm new to Gas Chromatography. I have to set up all my system.
Usually what I need, beside the GC and the autosampler?I mean coloum, detector, standard, washing solutions ecc... ecc...

Hi Greta,
If you are not familiar with GC I would suggest:
1) Talking with the instrument supplier.
2) Setting up the lab ready for installation as per their requirements.
2) Getting them to set the instrument up for you and showing you the basics.
3) Going on a course with the instrument supplier.

Greta, please let us know which system you are working with and in which area you will do research - this will help answering your question.

There is an enormous number of things to take in mind when starting with GC. You need gas supply, you need an injector, a column in an oven, a detector - each topic by itself is a broad area. Please structure it a bit. You might want to start with this: http://www.lcresources.com/wiki
