Hi,

Now I use UV/VIS for detection of my organic acid, so I would like to use MS detection. My mobile phase is H2SO4 5mM. Can I use it. I chech for organique acide from biomass decomposition ( Furfural, lactic, HMF, acetic, levulinic, glycolic, uronic, lactic.) MS will be A good thing because carbohydrate can be detect a little bit by UV and cause biais in my method.

Thansk for your suggestion

I'm not a mass spectrometrist, but I suspect that sulfate is considered to be not volatile enough for mass spec. But at only 5 mM, and in the absence of other cations, you might be able to get away with it.

If it were my problem, I'd go ahead and try. Worst case is that you would have to clean your interface more often.

If I use H3PO4 instant at H2SO4 with the same concentration in APCI ionisation.
