Agilent 1100 HPLC Chemstation sequence does not advance

Hi,

I am running an Agilent 110 HPLC with Chemstation and have tried to program a simple sequence of 7 samples. When the first sample has completed the run does not stop and advance to the next sample. I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this issue?

I've observed on just ONE of our 1100 systems that maybe 5% of the time the first injection of a Sequence just runs forever, so never advances to second injection. I've reported to Agilent, no one knows why, this has been going on for a bunch of years. Other 1100 with same Windows and same A.09 ChemStation don't do it. We just wait to make sure a second injection happens, before departing; it has only occurred with the very first injection.

On a different 1100 stack, we (very occasionally) get a 100% completely flast baseline, like it does a "no injection" run; no disruption due to bypass valve operation, then next injection from same vial is perfect. That's a bigger issue for us, re-booting didn't affect...

do check that all detector modules have "as Pump" in their stop-time (or at least some limited stop time) and aren't running for ever...

What lmh guessed would be my guess, or you have some intermittent error that is causing a 'timeout' in the sequence. I've personally had issues with 1100 autosampler door sensors thinking the front cover was off (but it wasn't), resulting in either the instrument pausing for an entire evening, or shutting down after the default ten minutes.

Another possibility is that the wrong option is selected for running a method versus a sequence.

Immediately below "method and run control" there are two buttons-one runs sequences, the other only a single method. If you have the single vial button selected (as in the picture), it will only run the first injection of a sequence.

This can drive people crazy. I see it happen every couple of months in our lab.
