Hello
Recently D2 lamp went dead for our Shimadzu Series 10 HPLC.
We have ordered a new lamp, in the mean time I wanted to know if I need to calibrate the new lamp or do any software tweaks after installing the new D2 lamp.
I am asking this here cause we do not have the manual for this detector.
Detector in question is Shimadzu SPD-M10Avp
In case any one know what needs to be done please let me know.
Thank you

You will need to set the exposure time using the PDA Utility. This is an automatic adjustment which optimises the scan period of the PDA. Make sure you have water in the flow cell when you do it.

Do I just have to reset the exposure time? Or also do a wavelength check?
Also any clue how I can reset the exposure time? Cause right now I cant even get in to that menu.
Looks like i will need to spend some time on it.
Thanks

You only need to do the exposure time. Probably wouldn't hurt to do a wavelength check, but changing a D2 lamp isn't going to change the wavelength calibration.
What software are you using? The exposure time setting is done a bit differently in earlier versions of Class-VP & Class-LC10 than in LCsolution and in later versions of Class-VP.

We are using EZStart version 7.4
There is an application, 'PDA utility' as a part of the software package, but for reason I am not able to get in to the menu which will let me reset the exposure time.

Not sure why you wouldn't be able to get into the PDA Utility. Do you have user logins enabled? It might be locking you out of the PDA utility unless you have an administrator login.
I forgot to mention that you will need to use the PDA utility to reset the lamp time.
Might be worth giving Shimadzu service a call if you can't get the PDA utility to run.

I can get into the PDA utility. But from that point onwards I am not able to get into the 'automatic wavelength calibration' menu which resets the lamp exposure time.
thanks for the help macgyver... i better call shimadzu and ask them what could be the issue.
Thanks again!!!!
