I bought a second hand Waters 510 HPLC pump. I would like to know approximately how old is it. So when this kind of pump model was used? Is it from 80's? Those who has used this pump do you have any comments? Did I make a good investment? I have no manual for this equipment so could someone tell me what is the purpose of the trimmer potentiometer just behind the front panel the hole for it situating just above the text "Millipore"? Is it for pressure meter calibration?

The 510's were made for a number of years. They have recently been discontinued. They are a good pump. Parts for them are plentiful from various 3rd party sources. If it has the Millipore name on it, it is probably from the early 90's. The only problem parts to find can be the electronics, but I am sure someone has some left. The little hole is to zero the pressure transducer, not to calibrate it. As long as you take care of them, they will lst quite a while.

Thanks for the answer. Are we now talking about the same thing? I dont mean the reset button but a trimmer potentiometer behind the front panel. It can be tuned using a screwdriver through the little hole. If you really mean that this is for to zero the pressure transducer how is it done and in what circumstances?

It is for zeroing the pressure reading. The way to use it is: Turn off the flow and adjust the display to show zero.
