Dear all,

Is there anyone touch the LC analysis of Vinorelbine tartrate? I read the USP monograph of vinorelbine tartrate for our HPLC control method and the context indicates the column(i.d.3.9x150mm)packing is 5 micrometer L1 in the assay and related compound sections, however,as many chromatographers realize that different column manufactures make the variation of different brand columns, which leads impact on chromatography performance, and I found some literatures showed that Waters Nova Pak, Agilent Luna C18 columns are used for this comound, but I'm not sure which is the best, so I hope you give me helpful information of the suitable brand packings(the brand of the submitter is preferred). Thanks in advance! :o

It depends on what the HPLC analysis really is! If it’s some kind of purity test (with difficult separations) then you’ll need to find out which brand is most suitable. But if it’s “onlyâ€

With some of these things, you can read between the lines and get the information that you want. A 3.9 mm i.d. column is ALWAYS a Waters column, and in this case I think that Novapak is the correct one, since uBondapak does not come in a 5 micron version.

that's a common problem and solution is simple - contact person responsible for the monograph and ask :)

Thanks everyone!

I've checked WATERS updated column catalog and it lists Novapak i.d 3.9x150mm column is filled with 4 micrometer packing only, and 5 micrometer particle size columns such as XTerra, Atlantis, Symmetry brands are available. And WATERS' local engineer told that particle size make little impact on separation with constant other column conditions and I will develop my method with the XTerra column in hand and study the chromatograms, and then discuss the further actions.

And I commuicated with the person who is responsible for the monograph and he will give me the feedback one week later. I hope he will give me a hand greatly.

Dear Austin,
in the Ph. Eur. your product is written with a LC-colum Deltapak, 15 * 3,9 mm, 5 µm, 7 % carbon load (Waters Corporation).
I think, the USP should be similar or equal.

Antje, thank you very much!:) :P

As your answer, the USP's correspondence told me that the method was validated with the Delta-Pak HPI C18 column, 5 micron, 3.9x150mm.

Thanks everyone for your help! :alien:
