What is the difference between potted vs unpotted? There are colleagues in different laboratories specifically asking for potted coil when doing hexavalent chromium (EPA 281.6/7). While other colleagues do not care.

In Thermofisher app notes, it uses unpotted and achieve excellent sensitivity. In my own experience, I was able to detect <0.02ug/L with said coil.

P.S. I tried googling potted knitted reaction coil and cannot find anything about it.

Might it have something to do with and adjustable or non adjustable heating element?

Sometimes Pot = Potentiometer Used for adjusting electrical current.
