G1701BA: splitting dual column run into separate data files

I'm currently using this version of MS chemstation on a 5890 SII dual ECD.

It's easy enough to set up a sequence for confirmational analysis where one data file contains both the front and back column chromatograms.

I want to be able to split the front and back column runs into separate data files, however. Is there a combination of keywords and sample types I need to use in the sequence panel? A macro edit? A method edit?

Thanks

That will be difficult to do. If you use Windows Explore to look at Agilent data files you will see that when you create a data file name you are actually creating a folder wtih several files in it. For the type of injection you are doing I believe the data are stored as sig1. dat and sig2.dat. You would have to actually create two folders and put one signal in each folder, and I don't think that can be done, at least the ChemStation versions I used years ago couldn't do this.

The only way that I have found to get two separate data files is that you must have two separate injection sources. This would mean two auto injectors or two gas sampling valves.

We had been using a much older Windows 3.0 version of chemstation on this instrument and it could split front and back column signals into separate data files.

Each column has it's own injection source and it's own autoinjector.

I know it has been a while since this forum post, but I am having issues getting G1701BA to let me run dual columns. I also have each column set up with its own injection source and autosampler. It is an HP 6890 GC. How did you get the software to do that? If I enter the method manually on the GC it will run both, but I can't do it through the software. Thanks for any insight you can give.

If you have ChemStation in the 'Method and Run Control' mode, click on 'Instrument' in the menu bar and then click on 'Select Injection source'. If you have two autosamplers installed, select autosampler as the injection device and select the radio button for "both".

I do have chemstation, (G1701BA Version B.01.00). I am having trouble finding the 'Method and Run Control' mode, is this an option that is only available in later versions of the software? If not, could let me know how to get to it?

Thanks for your help.
