You need a board for the GC, I believe it was an Option 580 board. This installed in the GC and gave both HPIB and RS-232 communications. Agilent probably doesn't have this board anymore, try the major third party suppliers and you should be able to get this.

I can offer the following three business contacts as possible sources for the HP cables and boards that you require.

In case the GC is equipped with HP-IB/RS-232 board and you are missing the HP-IB board for the PC and GP-IB cable , you could use our Clarity software with RS-232 control. For details, see

The board for GC could still be obtained at second hand instrumentation suppliers, but is getting rare.

qazaqaz,
Agilent still sells all of the parts you need to convert a 5890 to HPIB configuration. I just priced it out for a customer of mine. It was around $2K. Otherwise, after market vendors galore, as noted by skunked_once. If you need additional vendors, post again and I will give you some more contacts. Finally, you can probably find the whole assembly on LabX as well. I am not sure about the card for the PC from Agilent or the RS232 software (I have always used the HPIB version) but I know those can be found in the after market.
Best regards.
