I think I found this question under student projects as well...

And the question I asked there was: On what kind of instrument?

In this case usually it is:
scan mode: polarity of your acquisition and interface type, i. e. ESI Positive
scan type: Full Scan, SIM/SIR (single ion reaction/monitoring), MRM (multiple ion monitoring), parent scan and so on.
