On-column inlet injection

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I had a cool on-column inlet installed on my GC/MS system. I'm using the same auto-injector as before, except a different syringe support assembly was required (equipped with a needle guide for the smaller 5uL syringe). This assembly refuses to make an injection. It either smashes the needle or just faults and aborts.

I have the correct size insert, syringe needle, and septum nut for my column size. Has anybody encountered this problem??

Yes, I've had similar problems, and they were always due to either shoddy alignment, septa/seals that were too tight, or injector parameters set wrong.
