I am new to GC and i am just wondering wether we can do sterility test for pharmaceutical doaase by GC. I hear from someone long time back. Anybody can give me some tips:))))))))))

If you are testing for the absence of living things, you may have a problem with the GC. By the time you get things onto the coumn, they are typically not living. So, you will have a hard time making that differentiation.

If you want to tell what kind of bactera are or were present, you can generate a metabolomic profile - and you need to have enough material to inject. But that's about as far as you can go.

The only 2 related things I have heard about are a specific test for gonorea and "finger printing" of some bacterias by fatty acid composition.

Both are extraction methods and there might be some more specific ones, but doubt there is one general one that would cover the general requirements in the pharmacopieas, but then again I am not a pharmaceutical sterility expert

Yeah, like krickos said above, you can identify bacterial strains using a GC-fatty acid methyl ester method (look up: Sherlock MIDI), but any bacteria have to be cultured first on agar plates.
