Headspace Analysis Injector

Hi All,

Apart from Perkin Elmer (HS16, HS40 and HS110 for Clarus 500 and 600) does anybody know if there is some other manufacturer/supplier that has a balanced pressure injection system (rather than heated syringe or pressurized loop) for headspace chromatography?

If not does any one have any experience with transfering GC-HS methods from a balanced pressure injection system to a heated syringe or pressurized loop system? How easy/difficult should that be?

Some 6 years ago I transfered about 10 methods from our HS-40/Perkin Elmer GC system that we phased out to Agilent 6890GC+ 7694 headspace sampler. We had no issues with the transfer. One thing to keep in mind is that the "loop" based samplers are somewhat more prone to contamination in my experiance so you might need to raise temperatures in valv/loop and transferline.
Apart from that, the transfer should be pretty much straightforward (easy).

You can see the differencve btwn a balanced pressure injection system with a no balanced pressure injection system only with large amount of sample moved from the vial to the GC.

1ml or less from a 10ml have no effect at all.

balanced pressure injection system, heated syringe or pressurized loop system are all valid method for a static HS injection.

Consider that syringe temperature is the same of valve temperature.

The Combi Pal system seems intresting, no pressurazation it seems just a heated gas tight syringe system, can be mounted on Agilent and other GCs. Have no experiance myself of this system.

To go back to the original question, no other company makes a balanced pressure system. All types of headapace samplers, balanced pressure, valve and loop, heated syringe, work well IF the method parameters are set properly.
