Use Live Mesh to control your instrument at home?

Hi all,

Today my friend told me that he installed a Live Mesh Beta in the lab's computer and control the GC to run some samples at home.

Have you tried this? Do you know if Live Mesh can penetrate something like "firewall".

Any experience about this are welcome.

Of course don't tell your boss about this. Otherwise he/she will ask you work at home

We use Windows remote desktop via the VPN. This allows us to view data and control systems from home, saved many a long run. With this you can leave your work PC logged off. Also thinks like gotomypc would work.

Other than punching your boss on the nose, or falsifying data, I can't think of quicker way to be immediately dismissed for serious misconduct.

Most larger companies require their IT security people to be advised of, and approve, any planned software installations that would penetrate network security.

I'd strongly recommend telling your boss before even trying to install remote control software on employer's computers.
