Analysis of glyoxal

Hi,
any one please tell me the HPLC analysis of glyoxal. I analysed it in the glyoxalic acid, by using tetrabutyl ammonium hydrogen sulphate with K2HPO4
ACN : Buffer : : 5: 95
C-18 column.
There is no need of Ion par reagent for glyoxal I knew it.
I want to another methods or derivatizing method for glyoxal.
Please tell me

This u already told me. Basiclly our persion want to use one derivatizing method from clarient.
One derivatizing agent 2,4 dinitrophenyl hydrazine also reported for this.
And the problem is the Sigma Aldrich stdandard of Glyoxal is not responding and gives several small peaks whereas Glyoxal from local supplier gives sharp peak at our in house method which I already discuss with you.
So for varification we need another analytical method.
I Also planned to extract glyoxal in MDC and subject in to GC-mass.
We have not atlantic T3 column , can we use symmetry C-18 and same mobile phase as you told. please suggest us.

With 5% acetonitrile, the Symmetry C18 column is likely to work also.
If you are not sure about the elution of the peak, you can also run a gradient to maybe 10% acetonitrile.
If two standards give you different peaks, I would go for a third standard from a third supplier. If I get a consensus peak from 2 suppliers. I would complain to the supplier that did not deliver the same product.
You can also try to derivatize it with DNPH, but since this is a dialdehyde, you have to have a good derivatization procedure to get both aldehyde functions. What are the details of the derivatization procedure? But anyway, this is an additional complication that may not resolve anything. What if you get DNPH derivatives from both standards? Then you knwo that you got aldehydes, but you still do not know which one is the right aldehyde.
Of course, if you would have access to other analytical tools such as MS, you could verify yourself, which is the right glyoxal.
