Can anybody explain to me what the hold-up is for Gas Chromatography?

How about how long it takes an unretained compound (such as methane) to get to detector after being injected? This can take a minute or several depending on column length, diameter, head pressure, temperature, etc. See agilent website for a free flow calculator tool utility.
