Hi all,

I have an HP 4890 GC which needs to be connected to its hydrogen and nitrogen supply cylinders. I've now got the cylinders in place with their relevant regulators, gauges and what not. I simply have to connect pipe-work up between them and the GC. These GCs use what looks like microbore copper pipe of only a few millimeters outside diameter, together with some conical shaped olives and fittings for coupling up to the GC's gas input ports. The problem is, I need to order this pipework and unions, but don't know what their designated name or type number is. And you can't order something if you don't know what it's called! I also need to know who stocks and supplies these items. Many thanks.

Sounds like 1/8 inch. They're normally Swagelok fittings, which should be universally available. Just Google for a suitable stockist.

Yes - 1/8" swagelok. There are swagelok knock-offs that are a bit cheaper, but they are not as robust.

We normally order from Restek as above. You can get the fittings and pre-cleaned copper or stainless steel tubing through them.

Agree: Swagelok never had issues.
