Hello,
a good choice is an apolar solvent, like pentane and higher. Do not use CS2 or very polar solvents.

Triacetone,
You can use just about any solvent as long as it is not an electron-capture type of compound. Abviously chlorinated solvents are not good. One injection of chloroform and your detector is so saturated it will take hours to recover. As Bernd said, hydrocarbons are probably the safest bet but others are acceptable.
