Hi everybody,

last time I possed a difficult question as it seems and nobody ansered.

Now lets see...

Me and my colleague open the GCQ Ion Trap and we saw that....

We dismatled it because it was not working since the Dif Pump did not want to go to operation...so it was a shock when we saw that...

What could have caused it? It is connected with a 7890 and has He as carrier gas. It seems to be burned...

:? :?

Does anybody have an idea....??

I guess what you are seeing is years and years of built up ion burn and cr*p from your columns.. Did you have any sensitivity on the system before it broke down??

I think a good cleaning, as explained in the manual, would probably fix it up.. Of course you'd still have to fix the dif pump..

Andrea,

My guess is that the system started to suffer from electrical arcing. It would happen if the system is run at atmospheric prressure.
