Anyone based in UK and measure Greenhouse Gases?

Hi everyone

As the title says, is anyone here based in the UK and routinely measures greenhouse gases?

We are looking to buy a new GC for such an application and are considering Varian, Agilent, Shimadzu and Perkin Elmer.

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with these companies in the UK? Can anyone comment on how reliable their customer support is?

Why those four ? Where are you going to analyse the samples ? In what form of collection ? Bags , in situ ?? Have you considered a portable system like ours ? Is cost of support an issue ?

We will be measuring gases evolved from soil in the field. We will collect the samples in vials and then analyse them in the lab, so it's not a portable one we require. Do you only sell portable systems?

Varian presented a paper on this at Pittcon. It should be available at varianexperience.com now that they have the site up and running. It might provide some useful insights. As I recall, it was a pretty straightforward system that just about any vendor should be able to do.

We provide new specialised Gas Analysers mainly for the Oil industry, portable systems new and refurbished systems too. A basic laboratory system for landfill gases would be classified as a routine GC and would be handled by Thermofisher direct.
