Hellow,

I am praveen. I want to analyse methane sulphonic acid on RP-HPLC . Presently I do't have any ion exchange column and thus I need to anlyze this on simple Rp-column. Can any body tell me how to analyze this on RP-HPLC.

Best regards

praveen

I found an application on the Web.
I do not know if you have ELSD, but I hope this application will help you.

Best Regards,

Try with Atlantis column and ELS detector

Can you tell us what the sensitive requirement is and what the sample matrix is?

I don't see any viable RP-HPLC condition for this application. You can try either a HILIC column or an appropriate ion-exchange column. If you are not limited to RP-HPLC, I can share with you some results I have for this application. Just let me know your email address.

Praveen,

I just realized that the information pertaining to your application could be found in this link: http://www.dionex.com/en-us/webdocs/707 ... PN2239.pdf. Please pay attention to Figure 1 and Figure 2. Peak #7 is methanesulfonate.

The column is Acclaim Trinity P1 column (Dionex). It provides cation-exchange, anion-exchange and reversed-phase based on nanopolymer silica hybrid technology. Put it in a simple way, you can separate sodium ion, chloride and toluene (neutral) within one analysis. More information can be found from the same linker.

The mobile phase is acetonitrile and ammonium acetate and ELSD is used for detection.

This column is designed for pharmaceutical applications, including counterion analysis. You have the flexibility to adjust the retention time and elution order (in many cases) using this column, if needed.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Sir,

Thanks for ur reply, Unfortunately I don't have an ELSD detetor.
I want to knoe that can I used RP-18 phase and some ion pair like Tetrabutyl ammonium Hydrogen sulphate or some thing else.

Best regards
Praveen

What detector do you have for this application?

Sir,

I have UV detector only. Can it work with this analyste at lower UV region.. Near to 195 or 210 nm

regards
praveen

I don't think UV detection will work for MSA. The detection methods that might be used are RI (isocratic only), ELSD, MS and conductivity detection (need IC system). C18 column is not the right column for this application, either. What is the sensitivity requirement? If you want to detect less than 1 ppm samples, MS and supressed conductivity detections are your only choices I know of.
