Hi all,

Our boss is looking for Column Selector for Agilent 1100 HPLC. I find these product around the web:

Agilent G1159A Switching Valve: https://www.chem.agilent.com/en-US/_lay ... 0seriesgcs

Alltech SelectPRO: http://www.discoverysciences.com/product.aspx?id=2708

Phenomenex Synergi: http://www.phenomenex.com/products/acce ... _48_link_2

VICI: http://www.vici.com/cval/c5sys.php

What other else products do you recommend? Can the above be controlled by Agilent Chemsation software?

Thank a lot!!!

I would look for something that has temperature control with the smallest amount of bandspreading (shortest tubing paths).

You :might: have trouble getting a 1200 series part to work with other 1100 series components. I know we did when we purchased a column switch separately to add to an 1100 stack.

I routinely use the G1316A with a column switch built in, but I use Empower control. I would guess that Chemstation would not have a problem with a full 1100 stack including a G1316A.

Agilent stacks can be a pain. Even within the 1100 series you need to make sure you have the same (or compatible) firmware revision in each unit.

The Agilent switching valve you are talking about may or may not be an issue. It looks rather small and may not have much in the way of electronics and firmware. I'm sure that the Agilent people can tell you if there are any compatibilitiy issues

Anthony:
The Agilent "Valve on a stick" (G1159A), Alltech SelectPro and Phenomenex Synergi are the same product (in different boxes) sold by Rheodyne under different brand names to their resellers. These system are ambient temperature modules that can hold a max of six columns.

Consider an LC Spiderling Deluxe automated column selector. They have full temp control, super low delay volume, can handle up to nine columns and are designed to stack with an 1100/1200-Series system plus have full ChemStation control options. No firmware issues too. *Our lab has used them for years with our LC-MS and HPLC systems and they are bullet proof plus we get great tech support. You can find them on the web.
