Waiting For trigger?!

Although far from my area of expertise I'm responsible for looking after an old and fairly reliable Schamdzu GC.

The software has suddenly started hanging at "waiting for trigger" rather than beginning the aquisition. All the readouts on the GC seem normal and it seems to progress with the aquisition normally, but no data file is created.

When I've seen a similar problem with an LC system it's usually been confused communications, remidied by turning LC and PC off and back on again. This doesn't fix it this time. Anybody got any advise to offer?

Thanks.

Check the wires hooked to the back of the GC - there should be a pair hooked up to a terminal block of some sort marked "Start/Inj." or something similar. If neither is loose at the back of the GC, trace them to the A/D or acquisition PC or whatever it is that collects the data and see that all is well at that end too.

One of the first things I do when I see this problem is to short across the start connectors on the data system cable with a paper clip. If the acquisition starts, then it's a GC problem, if not it's in the data system.
